Elect Judy Ensweiler for The Colony Place 1
“As a 21-year resident of The Colony, I have had the opportunity to observe and participate in the city’s growth… by working closely with businesses, small and large in this town and through my volunteer work such as delivering Meals on Wheels and serving on city and community boards and committees, I believe I have a pulse on what people want.
I am proud of the accomplishments of our current City Council and want to continue their record of growth and lower taxes… I am a candidate who will listen to and work for the people. I feel very strongly that together we can continue to make this city a great place to live work and do business."
My commitment as a Candidate for Place 1 on The Colony City Council.
I promise to work to keep the citizens safe. We must maintain a strong Police and Fire Department. We must attract the best possible talent and provide consistent training in the most modern techniques.
I promise to be a steward of the city finances. We must fight for tax relief.
I promise to see to it that we continue to keep a focus on infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, and alleys. Many of them were created in the 50’s, and not with todays standards. They are crumbling and need constant attention.
Our Internet infrastructure must also be addressed. Too many The Colony residents do not have access to the Internet. This stifles student learning, much of which is remote. It also is a deterrent to attracting and maintaining local businesses which may need service beyond what our providers make available.
Grandscape had been a terrific asset to The Colony and will only get bigger and better in the years ahead. The focus can shift to creating more of a feeling of community north of Hwy 121. It could include:
-Enhanced recreational opportunities like a modern Recreation Center with indoor basketball, racquetball and pickleball courts, and outdoor sand volleyball and pickleball courts.
-Prioritizing the creation of a park on city owned shoreline for kayaking, paddleboarding and canoeing and even a waterskiing park.
-Studying the feasibility of creating a small City Center on land west of Main Street between Nash and Hetherington.
As council, we will have the opportunity to review and update the master plan, so I want to hear from you with ideas you might have to make this city as good as it possibly can be.
It is my intent to work with and for you in the months and years to come.
How Can I Best Serve You?
